Original Songs

Welcome to the universe of Moon Spruce which is the world of John Paul the songwriter. Inspired by the acoustic folk rock sound of the late 1960s and early 1970s, the songs are live intimately recorded raw demos and the lyrical and poetic style is driven by a passion for storytelling. Cosmic Doorway is an EP of 4 songs written back in the 70s. Back in 1969 was the first song melody in my teens that I composed in 1972 and is a haunting reminder of the Vietnam War. The Glam Folk Rock Cosmic Doorway and Strangers On The Run were both written for a short lived college band formed in 1975. Another Cloud from 1978 is autobiographical and I sometimes wonder where that starry girl is today!

Moon Spruce is an album of new demo songs that starts in the mystical realm of Beltane and ends in the everyday world of the People Of This Town. In between you will find the hypnotic Fading All Alone, a legend like Johnny & The Black Rock and the nocturnal dreamscape of Luna.Then hop onto that vintage rock vibe with Runaway Train. And the remaining tracks .... well let's just call them autobiographical.
